Hayfever Injections

What Is Hayfever?

Also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis, hayfever describes the symptoms experienced as a result of your body's natural inflammatory response when exposed to pollen.  The symptoms may include sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, congestion, sinus pain and headaches.  Symptoms last for weeks or months and can negatively impact on daily life.

How Do Hayfever Injections Work?

The hay fever injection is a corticosteroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect and slightly suppresses the immune system's response to pollen in order to minimise or prevent symptoms altogether.  It is administered as an intramuscular injection into the buttock.

During Treatment

During treatment, the injection is delivered in to the muscle of the buttock.  Our highly experienced practitioners will ensure your comfort and put you at ease throughout.  The treatment only takes about 5 minutes.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no downtime following this treatment so you can resume normal daily activities immediately afterwards.

How many Treatments Will I Need?

Most require only a single treatment to carry you through the hayfever season. In some cases, our practitioners will recommend a second treatment.

Results

The treatment takes effect about 2 days following administration and can last up to 3 months.
