It is estimated that a woman may spend over £12,000 in a lifetime (from age 16 to 65) on disposable razors as a solution for removing unwanted hair on their bodies. Of course depilatory creams and waxing, both at home and in a beauty salons, are also widely used. Home waxing solutions are estimated to cost over £11,000 for a lifetime, with in-salon solutions coming in at over £17,000. It’s not cheap managing hairy legs and underarms is it!
You may think that laser hair removal is more expensive than all of those options, but you’d be wrong; in fact it’s very much cheaper.
The result from laser hair removal treatment, a reduction in hair in the area being treated, is considered to be nearly permanent once the treatment programme is completed. This means that there should be no further expense, on an annual basis, as you would have with razors, creams and waxing. It cannot be regarded as 100% permanent as hair may start to grow again based on hormonal changes in a woman throughout her lifetime – pregnancy and menopause for example. However, it is the most permanent solution given how impractical electrolysis is for large area hair removal.
Our prices for laser hair removal sessions on the lower leg start from £150 and a course of treatment, (approximately 6 sessions are recommended), will be £750. So as you can see laser hair removal is a good investment to get your pins ready for summer!
And that’s not all the good news…
Now is a great time to start treatment. This is due to several reasons.
The natural growth cycle of a hair is around 6 weeks, so in order to make sure that we can target all the hair in the area being treated and ‘catch’ them all, we need to treat the area in several sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
The laser is designed to target the melanin or pigment in the hair follicle (the darker your hair colouring the better and quicker your results will be), so ideally we want to have as little melanin in the skin to distract the laser light. This makes winter a great time to have laser hair removal, as our skin, which has been under our clothes and not exposed to the sun and tanning for several months, will be at its palest for our skin type. This further optimises your results from treatment. (Although, it is worth noting that the specific laser that we use can treat and produce great results on tanned skin and darker skin types anyway, but the paler you are, for you, it’s still better.)
So, what is laser hair removal?
We use the Soprano ICE Laser from Alma Lasers. This device has revolutionised laser hair removal and made it virtually painless. It uses IN-Motion™ technology where the hand piece is always being moved around the skin as it delivers the light energy, this technology has been clinical proven to be effective with over 6 years of study to back it up, and the ICE applicator also cools the skin through integrated systems, which means you will be comfortable throughout treatment.
The treatment works by delivering the laser light energy to the base of the hair follicle. This light is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair and this destroys it as it heats up. Repeated treatment to target all the follicles in an area and destroy them at the correct stage of their growth will result in the cessation of hair growth and reduction (almost complete removal) of all hair in the treated area.
We can treat legs, underarms, backs, faces, bikini lines and other areas on the body with this technology and free you from the bother of unwanted hair.
