We all sweat, it’s how our bodies regulate our temperature, but if you think that you sweat too much or sweating effects your daily life more than you’d like, then you could have a condition called hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating, which is due to overactive sweat glands. But worry not, Hilton Skin & Body Clinics have a solution which uses Azzalure injections.

If you worry about how much you sweat, are constantly using deodorant under your armpits throughout the day, or regularly changing your clothes, and have even tried specialist antiperspirants, but with no success, then we have a solution for you which can dramatically reduce the production of sweat from under your arms for several months at a time – botulinum toxin injections.

In terms of the medical definition of hyperhidrosis, for which you will need a diagnosis, following a thorough consultation with our medical practitioner, there are two main types – focal or primary hyperhidrosis which tends to start after puberty and is genetically linked and secondary hyperhidrosis which can start at any age and is triggered by another event such as illness or trauma.

In either case, many sufferers, often diagnosed by their GP, find that the NHS can do very little to really help, apart from prescribe aluminium chloride based antiperspirant products, leading most to turn to private clinics like Hilton Skin & Body Clinics for help.

We are able to offer a treatment solution for excess sweating which uses injections of botulinum toxin; we use the Azzalure brand in our clinic.

Once our practitioner had accessed you in consultation, which may also include a starch (cornflour) and iodine test to visibly see the extent of your sweating problem, injections of Azzalure will be placed at intervals into the skin of your armpit to block the nerve signals to your sweat glands, and effectively reduce or stop them from producing sweat for a period of time.

Our practitioner can tailor the dose of the botulinum toxin depending on how much you sweat, how well you respond to treatment and how long the effect lasts between treatment sessions, to achieve the best results for you. It’s important to know that this isn’t a cure for hyperhidrosis, but provides temporary relief for several months at a time, you will need to commit to ongoing treatments (2 or 3 times a year) to maintain the relief from the excessive sweating. However, experience tells us that the impact that this treatment can have on lifestyle and confidence often means that clients simply can’t imagine going back to how things used to be.

There really is no reason to suffer in silence any more, or be embarrassed by any sweating problem that you may have – Hilton Skin & Body Clinics can help.

If you think you may suffer from hyperhidrosis and would like to discuss this with our medical practitioner, please contact us today to book a consultation.
