There comes a time when many of us look in the mirror and don’t recognise the face staring back at us.

When did all this ageing start? Where have my youthful cheekbones gone? Can someone please tell gravity to stop dragging my face down toward my knees?

These are all thoughts and questions that may pass through your mind as you see your skin start to sag, your cheek volume begin to disappear, and the wrinkles and hollows move in to take over.

But fear not, all is not lost!

You may think that your only solution is a surgical face lift, but these days there are less invasive options available to ‘lift’ and rejuvenate the tissues in the face.

In fact, you may have heard of the 8-point lift, which has been mentioned a lot recently in the media. This is a procedure that just ‘tweaks’ your face in 8 separate places, hence the name, the 8-point lift.

Our skilled cosmetic practitioners at Hilton Skin & Body Clinics offer a similar solution, but we believe that it’s not always the case that everyone will need all 8 points injecting, so we don’t claim to offer this exact treatment. We prefer to tailor our treatments to each individual’s needs, so that they are more specific and bespoke to their facial features, in order to achieve the best results. Too much use of dermal filler in the face can lead to a ‘pillow face’ look on some people, so we take a ‘less is more’ approach, plus some natural volume will be created over time by the body as well. Similarly, if we don’t need to target all eight points within a treatment, then this is kinder of your budget too.

However, we still feel that it’s important to explain how the 8-point lift with injectable cosmetic fillers, using hyaluronic acid could be the solution that you’re looking for to refresh, rejuvenation and bring back some of that youthful face shape that you once had.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers are formulated to replicate something which our bodies produce naturally within the structures of our skin. Sadly, as we age we simply produce less of it on a daily based, so by ‘putting it back’ through small injections, we can ‘top-up’ and help the body along, to achieve the fullness and plumpness that we associate with younger faces. We use well known product brands such as Belotero and Restylane for our HA injectables of choice, so you can be assured that these are reliable, safe and well-studied products which have been used by medical professionals for many years.

We also use, and sometime prefer, a non-HA product called Ellansé which has increased neocollagenesis capabilities, that’s the ability to stimulate new collagen production, compared to hyaluronic acid fillers. This helps us to plump, smooth and tighten the skin in one process.

So, what is the 8-point lift?

The concept is simple, but has taken experts in the field of medical aesthetics some time to understand and optimise, so that we can now achieve the results and technique-based procedure that we have today.

The filler products are injected into, some or all, 8 strategically placed points of the face, on both men and women, to reduce hollowing in the cheek and eye area, provide a lifting effect and generally reduce sagging in the lower face.

The eight points potentially targeted with small injections include the cheek, the naso-labial or nose to mouth lines, the tear trough by the eye, the corners of the mouth, the jawline and pre-jowl area to the sides of the chin, the marionette lines which run from the corner of the mouth down towards the chin and the lower cheek. This targeted approach results in a lifting of the tissues in an upwards direction from the mid-face towards the upper cheek and ear region. A lift without a ‘face lift’!

Treatment results for most people last for a year, maybe even longer, depending on the amount or type of product used and your specific requirements, and we usually recommend smaller top-ups in between to maintain the improvement that has been achieved.

This treatment isn’t suitable for everyone, depending on the laxity of your skin, but for those in their 40s and 50s who are starting to notice that they don’t recognise, or like, the face that they see in the mirror every day, then the results often speak for themselves and a fresh, natural improvement makes a real difference.
